Crystal Renn Makes Her Vogue Debut On Vogue Mexico April 2011 Cover

Crystal Renn On Vogue Mexico April 2011 CoverCrystal Renn was photographed by David Roemer for Vogue Mexico April 2011 cover and the accompanying editorial, making it Renn’s Vogue cover debut.

The editorial showcases a hot trend this summer – neons. Although Vogue Mexico took it more into the Eighties realm and the styling of the close-ups looks rather tacky, Renn herself looks gorgeous.

Carine Roitfeld To Style And Inspire Barneys New York Fall 2011 Campaign

Carine Roitfeld At AmfAR 2011 Gala Wearing Givenchy Fall 2011 Haute CoutureCarine Roitfeld’s first project since leaving French Vogue has been revealed and it’s not her and Tom Ford taking over Dior. So the overreaching rumors can stop.

Roitfeld will style and even serve as somewhat of an inspiration for Barneys New York Fall 2011 advertising campaign and catalogue. She will even style the store’s Madison Avenue windows. All these will be unveiled in September.

Barneys New York tapped Mario Sorrenti to photograph the campaign and catalogue in two locations – New York and Paris. And it is Roitfeld’s laid back and cool Parisian attitude which will set the mood. Barneys creative director Dennis Freedman says of Roitfeld, “She is the ideal muse as well as editor. She has a unique and extraordinary personal style. She appeals to all ages. She is independent and strong, and yet she is completely feminine. She is a woman of the world, which we like to think our customer is, as well.”

Roitfeld on her part is excited about the project as well. For her, “Barneys has always been the biggest name in luxury department stores, so to be able to participate in this project with them, and be visible during the next fashion week in New York, is my dream come true,” Roitfeld said. “To a French girl, it’s a big, big dream.”

It’s good that once in a while we get a reminder that despite all the glitz and glamour, Dubai it is still not a free country. Not by a long shot. You will get arrested and your passport will be taken away if you give a peck to your boyfriend or husband in public and even if you are Gisele Bündchen wearing rather innocent H&M Spring 2011 clothes in a campaign image – your upper arms and décolletage will be covered by a painted-on tee.

Carine Roitfeld: Irreverent Book Cover

It may have been all about Emmanuelle Alt’s first solo Vogue Paris issue for the past couple of weeks, but lest be forgotten, Carine Roitfeld’s highly anticipated book comes out this fall and can already be pre-ordered on Amazon.

Carine Roitfeld: Irreverent was edited by Purple’s Olivier Zahm and written by Roitfeld herself with contributions by Cathy Horyn, Amy Larocca and Anna Wintour. An image-heavy book, it will mostly contain photoshoots Roitfeld did with Mario Testino throughout her career (including The Face and French Glamour). A photoshoot certainly to be included? “The Butcher” editorial that appeared in The Face magazine in 1997, photographed by Testino featuring Eva Herzigova.

Gisele Bündchen On Vogue Paris April 2011 Cover – Emmanuelle Alt’s First

Gisele Bundchen Vogue Paris April 2011 Cover - Emmanuelle Alt first

VogueParisLive twitted it’s forthcoming Vogue Paris April 2011 cover – Emmanuelle Alt’s first official issue. Photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, a rather virginal looking Gisele Bündchen wears a white broderie Anglaise Dolce & Gabbana dress.

I was hoping Emmanuelle Alt would continue Bündchen’s recently found edginess from Balenciaga Spring 2011 campaign, unfortunately that was not the case. Emmanuelle Alt’s first ever Vogue Paris cover will forever be remembered as vanilla.

What do you think about the cover?

Nicholas Kirkwood Designs A $7,000 Shoe For Fall 2011

Nicholas Kirkwood Fall 2011 Gold Shoe

Nicholas Kirkwood Fall 2011 shoes collection was unveiled by the designer a few days ago in Paris. Standing out were the Moroccan slipper inspired sandals. Rising high on Kirkwood’s classic platform, the upper and heel were made of fabric embroidered with gold thread, trimmed with gold-colored leather. Priced near a hefty $7,000 mark, one might be temped to think they were actually made gold.

LVMH Takes Over Italian Jeweler Bulgari In A $6 Billion Deal

Kirsten Dunst Bulgari Spring 2011 Mon Jasmin Noir

Nor John Galliano’s firing from Dior, neither LVMH attempt to invest in Hermès fiasco won’t stop LVMH’s Bernard Arnault doing business as usual, expanding his luxury kingdom.

In a transaction totaling at $6.01 billion, LVMH acquired a 50.4 percent stake in the Italian jewelry brand Bulgari. Also a family owned company, the Bulgari clan, unlike Hermès, welcomed the LVMH deal, realizing the growth potential for the brand.

The deal, in fact, works out perfectly for both parties – significantly increasing LVMH’s jewelry division and giving Bulgari capital and means to expand it’s product categories. Despite starting out as a jeweler, Bulgari now also has handbags and just a few weeks ago announced a new fragrance Mon Jasmin Noir.

Interestingly enough, because the acquisition was partially paid for with LVMH’s shares, the Bulgari family will now become LVMH’s second largest shareholder, right after Mr. Arnault himself.

Francesco Trapani, Bulgari CEO and family member said of the deal, “Our entrance into LVMH will allow Bulgari to reinforce its worldwide growth and to realize noteworthy synergies, in particular in the areas of purchasing and distribution. My vision is that the luxury market will continue to grow in the next 10 years, become progressively and increasingly more competitive, and in more geographical areas. We need to be more competitive in new areas, from Russia to China, India and the Middle East, to prosper.”
