It is just a few hours ago that I bought the new October 2010 digital issue of Vogue Russia, and already an editorial struck a cord with me.
This editorial, dubbed “Golden City”, portrays Russian girls, no … women, dressed in the golden gowns of Max Mara’s Fall 2010 collection and Max Mara’s Fall 1993 and 1994 coats, with Moscow’s night lights as a backdrop. Laura Lusuardi, the chief designer at Max Mara, admits in the accompanying article that the Fall 1993 collection was their best seller, even to date.
“Russian girls will probably like the gold”, Max Mara’s people told Vogue Russia. Such lavish golden looks, so precisely in tune with the current sophisticated 70’s trend, how can I not like it? How can you not like it?
