Diane Pernet Leopard Print Silk Raincoat

I was toying around the internet when I stumbled upon this gem. Back in 1989, Diane Pernet designed this dreamy leopard print raincoat for her friend Paola Piglia and called it, quite literally, Paola’s coat. From what I can make out in the photo, it actually retailed for $4000 in a Soho boutique.

This is not good. It is exactly the kind of thing that unleashes me on vintage designer hunts around eBay and makes my bank hate me. Although when you think of it, the more credit I borrow, the more the bank likes me, right? It’s when I’ll stop paying back that they will cruelly cut me off. Safe … for now.
