Balmain’s phony rocker wannabe look has become somewhat of a joke at this point. And the new Spring 2011 collection has taken it into the ridiculous costume realm.
Having spent most of my teenage years as a corseted goth, I’m not one to dismiss punk as a legitimate style. But paying $5000 and up for a shredded spike embellished jean jacket? I’ll be the first one to point and laugh at the poor soul that falls victim to the trend and buys items from this collection.
There’s really not much else I can say of the collection. It’s packed with tiny leather or jean shorts; leather or jean capris; t-shirts and tanks; blazers and jean jackets. All shredded, acid washed and spike embellished with a heavy hand to give you the perfect phony punk look.
