I feel like I need to throw my two euro-cents on this issue out there. The New Gap Logo is horrible. What were they thinking? I hope the creative team responsible for this gets fired. There. I said it.
The BrandChannel website put it beautifully – “Gap rebrands itself into oblivion“.
Gap addressed all the hate out there by stating, “Thanks for everyone’s input on the new logo! We’ve had the same logo for 20+ years, and this is just one of the things we’re changing. We know this logo created a lot of buzz and we’re thrilled to see passionate debates unfolding! So much so we’re asking you to share your designs. We love our version, but we’d like to… see other ideas. Stay tuned for details in the next few days on this crowd sourcing project.”
So perhaps this was their evil plan all along? Creating a logo so ugly that the web will be abuzz with Gap’s logo change?
