Philip Treacy Sketch Postcard For High Life
Philip Treacy

High indeed. High Life is British Airways’ online magazine and this month they’ve taken upon themselves to save the postcard. Apparently, only 11% of people send postcards from their traveling destination. I’m actually surprised that a whopping 11% do send postcards. Are they all above 90? But then again, if Hallmark and their banal greeting cards still exist, then why not postcards.

Anyway, I digress. So, to save the postcard, High Life created this charity project. They’ve asked designers, models, artists and celebrities to create postcards. These will be auctioned off on the High Life website and the proceedings will go towards, who else, third world children.

Diane Von Furstenberg, Giles Deacon, Manolo Blahnik, Philip Treacy, Alice Dellal, Sienna Miller, Stephen Jones and many others embraced the challenge and sketched original postcards.

The current bids range from £25 ($40) for an Alice Dellal and up to £325 ($520) for a Manolo Blahnik. The auction will end on November 1.
