Spring 2011 is Felicity Brown‘s second collection, but the first to be walked down the runway. I suppose when your debut collection (Fall 2010) is noticed and promoted by Vogue Italia, you are bound to end up on the runway by the next season. And indeed, Felicity Brown Spring 2011 collection was strutted down the runway as part of the Fashion East show during London Fashion Week. Fashion East is a non-profit British organization that stages a runway show for three new but talented designers each season as part of London Fashion Week.
If for Fall 2010 Felicity Brown created movement and fluidity using micro-pleat hand-dyed ruffles, for Spring 2011 she used the ruffles in a completely different way. Incredible amounts of silk ruffles, tightly packed together, created a solid voluminous silhouette. The vibrantly colored ruffles looked like runny watercolors mixed together. You can definitely feel the spirit of Brown’s previous employers – Alberta Ferretti and Lanvin – in the collection.
According to Felicity Brown’s Fashion East profile, her current Fall 2010 collection will be available at Liberty, Barneys and 10 Corso Como (Milan).
