Armani Prive Spring 2011 Haute Couture

Light years away from Giorgio Armani’s previous Armani Prive collection of classic glamour in beige and camel color pallet, the new Armani Prive Spring 2011 Haute Couture collection is probably what women will wear in a time when we can actually travel at the speed of light.

The collection is as innovative as it is rooted in cultural concepts we’ve known for decades and centuries. If you weren’t a club kid in the 90’s, you must have at least watched MTV (90’s were the golden years of the currently culturally bankrupt music channel) and will recognize the iridescent technical fabrics and stiff strapless tube dresses. The Orient was evident in the looks as well, be it in the Vietnamese hats, the color palette or the body-con dress and leggings combination.

Truly marvelous were the last few looks – the gowns that we’ll be seeing on the rep carpet very soon, I’m sure. Whether it’s the abstract Harlequin pattern patchwork on a bandeau bell gown, the jeweled tops, or the laser cutouts with a shimmering contrast color peeking from underneath – they were all so innovatively glamorous.
