When we think of woven bags, a free-spirited summer comes to mind. And this summer, the designers stepped it up and created some very luxurious and original takes on the trend. The beauty of a well designed woven bag is that you can either match it to a Bohemian day look or dress it up for an effortless summer-y evening look.

On the highest end you have, of course, the classic Bettoga Veneta Intrecciato, but it no longer has to be the classic basket weave. Diane Von Furstenberg offers a woven chain-link leather hobo bag that has a very interesting texture and feel to it and Stella McCartney produced her classic Falabella tote out of chunky woven cotton-blend fabric.

We’ll begin with the more affordable Cassidy Randall woven that can double either as a messenger or a clutch by removing the strap. Katie Cassidy and Nola Randall are a New York based design duo and what’s even better is that they produce their bags right here in New York City. You can find their bags either online or in Manhattan’s Second Time Around.
